Well if you're used to backpacking this just funny. Once you've actually found the place, a 10 minute walk and random search from the botanic gardens metro (orange line) and dealt with the friendlier-than-the-average-Russian speaking reception, the rest is exactly like a hotel. I stayed in a double room in one of 4 or 5 floors of rooms off long corridors. A teeny lift joins them all.

The rooms are comfortable and clean, with double glazed windows and standard bathroom with bath/shower, basen and upright toilet. A heated towel rail with fresh towels, a TV with BBC world as well as Russian channels and a fridge complete the standard room you'd expect.

Breakfast is included and is typically tea/coffee, a cheese and ham sandwich and a boiled egg.

There was no aircon so it was jolly hot in June, with mosquitos as standard.

Passports are held as usual for stamping and you have to go find the (english speaking&helpful) guy who runs the business in another block to pay him.

There's a small supermarket on the campus with food souvenirs and military optics (!) if you need.
