Depending on the season, this place can get pretty crowded. It's right on the royal mile, and the rooms are passable but certainly not luxurious, and the kitchen is rather small (especially when there are 20 people trying to use it!). Overall, this place gets my recommendation, although I found it to be a bit smoky for my taste.

probably the best location possible. we booked online for a 14 person room but it ended up only being an 8 person one. the bunk beds are made out of wood-no metal squeakiness. the only problem was that there were no locks on the doors, so i was pretty nervous about leaving my stuff in my room. they will keep your luggage locked for £1 a day, but i would have rather had a key to my room thank you

Really cool hostel in a very cool city. The location is second to none and you're right in the middle of all the sightseeing attractions and pubs/clubs. The dorms were bright, the beds were comfortable and the staff were really friendly (all travellers as well). definitely recommend it to anyone.

We arrived late at night at the train station and were able to get to our hostel and check in within 5 minutes of being in Edinburgh. The hostel location is tops. It's in the Old Town just off the Royal Mile, so real close to all the main sights in Edinburgh. Also close to heaps of awesome pubs and clubs. The hostel had no curfew so we were able to come in at all hours. The staff were also really great in suggesting things to see and do.

Edinburgh is The Party Town. People come here to enjoy the sights, cultures, and vibrant nightlife. So, that said, don't expect to get too much sleep if you stay in this centrally located hostel. The good thing about it is it's walking distance to the pub crawl streets such as Cowgate, so you can stumble home half-drunk if you need to. I stayed in a mixed dorm at this hostel and got back at around 1 am. I kept on being awoken by people serenading pub songs on the street below, long after the last pub had closed. Cleanliness was okay. Staff were friendly and helpful.
