BUG review
St Christopher’s is a good hostel in the old town close to Waverley Station. It is located above two bars and features a good chill out lounge with TV and Internet access, but there is no kitchen. The biggest dormitory has 10 beds but most have four beds.
About BUG's hostel reviews

This is a great hostel that I would highly recommend to anybody. The good:1) The location is excellent. It is right next to the train station and the drop-off point for the airport bus. In some cities this means you're in a shady party of town, but in Edinburgh it means you're right off of the Royal Mile. All the major tourist sites are within easy walking distance of the hostel, so there's no need to figure out a city bus system.2) The place is ridiculously clean. After checking in we encountered three people cleaning while walking up to our room, including somebody (I swear this is true) scrubbing the floorboards outside of our room. The bathrooms are en-suite and spotless. The showers are communal and are kept very clean. You have to keep hitting a button to make them work, but the water temperature is perfect. 3. The beds are fine. We stayed in an eight-person dorm, the sheets were fine and the matresses are about as good as you get with a hostel. No loud groups running around at 3 AM, or people shouting outside the hotel.4. There's a pretty nice bar downstairs with Sky Sports North America, so I was able to watch some baseball one night. For anybody traveling during MLB or NFL playoff time, this would be really nice.I can't really think of anything bad to say about the hostel. The breakfast wasn't spectacular, and I guess the rooms were a bit cramped, but hey--it's a hostel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Make sure you have a padlock if you're storing your luggage. While the luggage room is behind two keycard locked doors, the luggage room itself is unlocked but has lockers you can put your stuff in.

We stayed in a twin room in May 2004. Although the room was very small, it and the attached ensuite were clean and well looked after. The only real downside was the breakfast, no juice or cordial and the space and equipment wasn't sufficient considering the size of the hostel.

This hostel is right next to the mile. The bar below is perfect to start your night, nice bartenders at Belushi's say hi to Dusty for me. (friend who is working there) The hostel was clean, and had a private bathroom. Real secure and not too expensive. Have a great time going out.

I stayed at St Christopher's in Edinburgh with my girlfriend for the festival and loved it. We wanted to go to the Military Tatoo but didn't have any tickets as they were sold out. Luckily the staff helped us. We got tickets to the late show and it was awesome. Afterwards we went to the bar and partied to the live band they had playing. The staff were great, the location was perfect, and the bar was pumped. Magic, will definately be back!

I had booked ahead of time through the internet, because it was going to be festival time and I got a booking number through the email. When I arrived, they couldn't find the booking for the first night I booked, and I had to spend the night in a mixed dorm instead of the all female room I had ordered. Then I went on a side trip, given promises that the next night would be ok, but it wasn't. And again, I was put in a mixed dorm. They did not respect the pre-booking, though they had taken the money for the first night immediately after the booking was done, in advance. They said that they are having problems with the computer system. They should use paper and pencil, since they know it's a problem. It was not a surpise to them.

This is one of the best hostels we have stayed in (have seen a few in Australia and even they stuggle to compete)! This is a tidy and clean hostel with very friendly and helpful staff. Very Comfortable bunks and nice en-suite bathroom with power shower. The bar is great with lots of drink offers, plus it has a very tasty menu to match. Would recommend to anyone who visits Edinburgh as very central and easy walking distance to the Castle and main attractions. Can't wait to visit again.

Stayed here last week, not the cheapest I found but it made up for it on the value for money. We got 2 beds in a 4 bed dorm and it was en-suite breakfast was basic but plenty of it. The hostel had 2 bars one pumping and the other one more chilled and the location was superb only 5 minutes from gras market and princes street. This place was awesome.

Well I stayed here 2 years ago, so the same I said before remains the same, except there is now a couple of improvements ! You can get here a whole lot cheaper by plane. And this City must be the best place to party in the U K ! Cheap drinks every where, and the Scots are great. Theres now a cool chile out room, and the bars are fun to meet like minded travilliers. Big Hand for this hostel.

I came to Edinburgh and stayed at another hostel. It was awful, but when walking around saw St Christophers Inn. When I stopped in and spoke to the staff they were really friendly and helpful. I changed hostels and have not been disappointed, its like a home away from home. Everyone looks after you. Its safe, they have lockers, a luggage room, and a laundry as well as internet and 2 bars. Awesome location! Most of the staff are Aussies with a few Kiwis, Scotts and South Africans.
