BUG review
This small 36-bed hostel feels a little grungy with old mismatched furniture but the rooms have new bunks. It has two lounges but ‘kitchen’ facilities are limited to a toaster, kettle and a microwave.
About BUG's hostel reviews
This hostel was visited by one of BUG's team of hostel inspectors who write independent reviews and assess a star rating based on an objective assessment criteria.
We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.
Price Dorm bed £10 Double/twin room £30 Prices are in British pounds and are inclusive of all taxes.
No, really, don't go. It is disguting. The room are dirty, smelly, small. There is only one working shower. The staff (are they really working there?) is rude and helpless, nobody seems to know how stuff is working there. Yes, you can have free internet, when the obnoxious staff guy is not watching movies on the computer.

The hostel itself looked more like a dilapidated, hastily abandoned demolition job the logo of the previous occupiers was still visible, the shaky door had the glass smashed in and was covered by plastic and wood, and the front room looked like a cross between an abandoned office and ransacked living room. Upstairs at the fax machine on a desk in the hall there were holes in the roof, tape holding things in place and the smell was awful. In short I feared for my health and safety the whole half hour we were there and thanked my lucky stars I didnt have to stay a minute longer (we had previously booked, paid a deposit and rang to confirm our booking but were met on the stairs by the owner - a skinny, nervous, greasy English man and before we could even speak he shouted no, no more room, we are full. He proceeded to tell us an unconvincing story as to why he had given away our beds and repeated insincere apologies as he lamely and unsuccessfully tried to find us alternative accommodation at 10pm on an Easter Saturday night.)This hostel is a disgrace and should not be allowed to take money from honest, well meaning travellers who want a fair trade for their money. The owner has not put any effort into making it comfortable or welcoming or safe. I thought I had already experienced the worst hostel of my life on 6th Street, San Francisco I was proven wrong at this hostel! Fellow travellers you have been warned!!!

This place is ten times the value of what you pay. You will get the normal bed bath and breakfast, but the hospitality is boundless. The people working here shair the living history of Scotland while your are sorrounded by the modern hot spots of Glasgow.

This hostel has potential but it is pretty sketchy. The beds didn't have any bedding and one worker was pretty wierd. Many of the people staying were forced to sleep on the floor. Pretty poor hospitality.

This neat little place has an internet cafe and bookshop adjoining it and it is a good place to pick up local jobs from.In the dorms they are all 4and six bedded. And all have excellent thick mattresses the best ive had.
