BUG Review
This spanking new hostel is next door to one of Aviemore’s best pubs, which more than makes up for its lack of common area. It’s got everything you could possibly need and the dorms and bathrooms are of the highest standard. Definitely for the backpacker who just wants somewhere clean and safe to crash.

Dorm bed £15
Double room £38

A well placed hostel, that has potential to be fantastic. Howver, the only communal area is the kitchen, with only enough seating for about 12 people - the hostel sleeps 40. Noise carries everywhere in the hostel, and nights seem to be very sleepless with 24 hours access and a noisy kitchen. For the money, a much better nice sleep can be had in local b and b's.

Found bunkhouse via website and the owner was very helpful with initial enquiries and assistance in things to do in the area. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and provided everything we needed. Slightly spoiled by some self centered climbers who showed no consideration for the other guests by being noisy and cluttering common space which is limited. However rooms were excellent for our needs and great that they have ensuite in each room. Great pub next door which offers 10% discount on food for bunkhouse occupants. It is very close to transport, shops and mountain activities. Would definitely stay there again.

Bunkhouse offers minimum facilities at a top-end price.

6-bunk rooms are clean & modern, but with one in the ensuite shower there is nowhere for anyone else to wash or use a toilet.

The kitchen is totally inadequate for the size of building. Table seats 6------accommodation takes 40!!!!!

There is no-where else to sit, watch TV or sort outdoor gear. The ground-floor drying room was stone cold. The first floor drying room was warm------but in use by management for hanging bedsheets. Despite the poor weather meaning clients would need it. No Common Room & not enough space to swing a cat. If you're doing any significant outdoor activity, then you'd be much better off at Aviemore YHA, Loch Morlich YHA, Fraoch Lodge at Boat of Garten, Craigellachie Lodge at Newtonmore etc.

This is just an exploitative add-on to the pub and nearly as bad as Bridge of Orchy in that respect.

A good attempt at a high quality hostel - gone badly wrong.

Plus points: family rooms and door locks, en-suite plus towels, great duvets and beds made before arrival. 24 hour access with key. Nice bar next door.

Real downers: No sound proofing whatsoever. Slamming fire doors and drunks at night. Small kitchen, no communal lounge and no toilet other than the en-suite in your room. Badly staffed. Run by pub next door.

Would be a perfect place for a group of beer loving men up for a sporting weekend - with the whole place booked to themselves. God forbid if you ever have to share it with people who are remotely inconsiderate (ie virtually everyone after a few drinks).

We stayed in this hostel for two nights. The room was bright and spotlessly clean, even if it was a bit on the small side. The en-suite toilet was wonderful, really clean with endless hot showers. The kitchen was a different story. It was not as clean as we would have hoped, and we recommend that management pay more attention to the hygiene of the kitchen. The absence of a common room was also disappointing.

The Hostel was centrally located, only 2 minutes walk from the train station (Aviemore Scotrail) and 3 minutes walk from Tesco Supermarket.

Clean, but: no place to sit down - only on your bed because there is no common room; not enough cooking facilities - there were 8 people in the kitchen when we were there and there was no room to move and since the hostel is supposed to house 40 people the only place to eat is the pub next door - owned by the same people.

If all you want is a bed, stay here. Otherwise, go to Nethybridge - the Lazy Duck hostel is worth the drive.

This is luxury.

Brand new and well thought out.

Ideal location.

Beds, showers and kitchen all 10/10

Superb value - loved it - will use again and again. Ideal base for Cairngorms and Ben Nevis. Room keys and lockers together with 24 hour access - so could get on the mountain whenever, no hassle. Staff were brilliant. Really helpful

Check it out!

Its a great hostel - very well run but a bit small. Has only just opened and outside is still needing landscaping, etc.

Very handy for the pub next door, which I liked because its a 'real pub', quiet and cosy.
