BUG review
As popular in winter as it is in summer, this old mansion house is bright and welcoming. The lounge has window seats with great views and a roaring fire (sometimes even in summer). The kitchen is small and can get crowded but you’re not far from restaurants and pubs if you’d rather eat out. It’s mainly climbers and walkers who come here but there are ‘indie’ travellers too.
About BUG's hostel reviews
This hostel was visited by one of BUG's team of hostel inspectors who write independent reviews and assess a star rating based on an objective assessment criteria.
We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.

This is one of those small friendly hostels that have all the quirks that makes hosteling great. Wonderful staff guest who understand the true joy of travel and are knowledgible about their journey. The staff have a great sense of humor and imagination that allow for great games of golf and boat building projects . The evening garthering of staff and guest where some of the best time of my whole journey. However this was one of the few times that my room was maxed out and my snoring and the other old mens chores made sleeping a bit rough yet beds were comfortable. The baths were CoEd so you American boys mind your manners.

actually I would give this hostel a 5 star rating, but they messed up with my booking for the second night, so we had to leave, which was not very nice!! The hostel is very cosy and has a laid-back atmosphere. In the evening everyone was sitting in the lounge, playing cards or chess, reading, talking or knitting. The kitchen is a little bit small, but well equipped. All in all, it's a cool hostel

Probably the most popular hostel in Fort William, but not necessarily the best. Very popular with serious long-distance walkers. Located on the edge of town and very clean, but a bit cramped. Popular with the louder crowd so can get a bit noisy. Plenty of car parking options nearby if you have a car. Nothing wrong with this hostel, but not the best.

Spent four days here, and what a great four days they were!. Never in bed before 3am, great intrernational mix, and more fun than I've had in a long time. Much more laid back than YHA's which seem to be run and inhabited by zombies- have you noticed how close their eyes are together?!!!. Full of people who enjoy outdoor activities and a skinfull afterwards!. Top time get yourself up there.
