BUG Review
This is a very sociable small hostel run by enthusiastic backpacker staff, having a small but practical kitchen and dining area, a cosy common room (smoking allowed) with guitars and no TV, and single-sex dorms. It has an adjacent chalet with dorms and bathroom at a lower price. Groups from one of the tour companies are accommodated in a separate self-contained building.

Price
Dorm bed £12.50-13.50
Twin room £30

Prices are in British pounds and are inclusive of all taxes.

I've just arrived from Skye from the "jump on and jump off tour" from Macbackpackers and I am writing this review with my friend Gracie that got also addicted to the skye-way-of-life. The hostel is awesome. I loved the Island, hostel staff and most of the travellers that jumped off or were just around the amazing kitchen (my favourite spot in the hostel). I do recommend the hostel to all my friends and also to my enemies, because we just need to support the awesome hostels in the amazing Scotland (risos...). See you guys (soon, I hope). Sy, from Brazil.

...No seriously. You will come here for a couple of days, and end up staying a week. You definitely get used to working on island time.

Loved the lovely hostel. Extremely cozy common room(mmm....fireplace..), comfortable rooms, clean bathrooms, hot showers, great kitchen (free hot chocolate!!! and tea! and coffee!), lovely staff, awesome Skye day tour, etc... I could go on.

Ok, you're just going to have to GO... C'mon...Right now... Get your self up immediately and trek yourself there. Skye is so cool, and you will have an awesome time.

Ive been to the Isle of Skye four times in the past 3 years, and each time stayed at Skye Backpackers. This hostel exudes the warm friendliness thats typical of Scotlands Top Hostels, only this hostel is warmer, cosier and friendlier than the others.

The backpackers, like the whole island, runs on Skye Time, which could be annoying if youre too uptight or have a tight schedule. The thing is, this is Skye, so accept it. The environment is warm and friendly. The lounge is heated by a wonderful coal fire, theres a load of books and games to enjoy and a lot of interesting travellers to talk to.

During my stays I managed to spend time in a Double, Twin and Dorm room. All were clean and well kept and the mattresses were all comfortable. The only downside was that the double room was very small. The kitchen was well equiped, and roomy, though the eating area was on the smallish side. The bathrooms were spotless.

My best memories of Scotland are from Skye, and my best memories of Skye are from Skye Backpackers. Go, relax and enjoy.

I stayed in this hostel in July 2004. The hostel is great, it's clean and comfy and has the best atmosphere of all the hostels I ever stayed in! It's centrally located and near of the bus station. In front of the hostel is a lawn and the sea. The only negative I can tell about it is, that in the kitchen is not too much space, so maybe you have to wait a little bit, until you can eat your meal. For there was not very much to see in Kyleakin, I spent much time in the hostel, where I met a lot of people, with whom I went in a pub later on. In the hostel, you talk just to everyone and even the staff is really interested in your further journey and all. VISIT THIS HOSTEL!!!!

This is an excellent hostel - it has the lot - everything you would expect in a hostel plus licensed shop and cafe on site, central heating, open all day, comfortable beds including a double room, even a post office on site!

Always an interesting crowd in the hostel and some great pubs nearby. The village is overrun with backpackers during summer, but the craic is still good through winter and it's not THAT cold...

We loved this hostel. The kitchen was great... multiple burners, free tea/coffee/hot chocolate, reasonably priced breakfast, antique wood furniture, nice free-hand paintings on the wall, big windows, clean, etc. The double room we stayed in was nice and clean too. Everyone who worked at this hostel was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and passionate about Skye. There were handmade posters indicating the many things to see and do on Skye. Best of all, the MacBackpackers tour of Skye left right from the hostel (as Skye Backpackers Hostel is a MacBackpackers Hostel)... and the tour was fabulous (run by someone who was working/staying at the hostel). Showers were nice and hot. Loved it!
