BUG Review
This is a very good hostel elevated above the shore of a bay 1km from Broadford with buses and shops. It has an excellent kitchen, a large dining room, a large common room with TV, a lawn with picnic table, and a great view. The staff is helpful. It caters for families and small groups as well as backpackers, and is well placed for walks, cycling and buses to all parts of the island and to the mainland.
Price Dorm bed £13.90-15 (£12.90-14 HI/SYHA) Prices are in British pounds and are inclusive of all taxes.

Broadford is now the only YHA for the south of Skye (Armadale and Kyleakin have both been sold in the past year or so). Having stayed in all 3 a number times I find this quite strange as Broadford was my least favourite. It felt large, cold and lacking in atmosphere. It was also located off the usual tourist path, but not in a 'hidden gem' sort of way, ie: people want to go to Armadale and numerous backpackers land in Kyleakin by default but Broadford is hardly the hub of Skye tourism. I love the place but I lived on Skye for a number of years so grew to know it, but if you are just visiting the island, then Kyleakin, Armadale or Portree would be the most likely places for an o/nite.Things may have changed since the closure of nearby hostels - including facilities/maintenance - hopefully someone can come along and enlighten us?There is a serpentarium in Broadford and just near it is an excellent chippie. The Claymore do very good seafood and there are a couple of boat trips (Glass bottom and possibly still a jet boat?) leaving Broadford pier (right near the hostel). The 2nd largest Co-op on Skye is in Broadford and probably the largest petrol station. It used to be a bit of an icon (Skye Surprises) but has changed hands in the last couple of years & is apparently no longer as surprising. There is a post office, Bank of Scotland and Fig Tree cafe nearby as well as a wood work museum and various walks (easiest one is to follow the road in front of the hostel to the pier and keep walking around Irishman's Bend)The village hall plays host to various gatherings and the occasional 'rave' (fronted by local DJ Mylo a couple times). Check the local paper (Free Press) or posters in bus shelters...
