This was a wonderful hostel.

My friend and I were put into a room with two other travelers. The room is spacious and the beds are so comfortable. The room has a lock on it. Be sure to get to the outlets first because you have to share with your fellow travelers.

Breakfast consists of cereals, milk, juice, buscuits, and toast. It cost only 2.50.

The only complaint I have concerns the showering situation. Each floor shares a bathroom and ours had a broken shower. I went downstairs to another bathroom with a tub in it but that was broken. It ended up that two floors had to share one shower.

There is also a pub downstairs. They also serve food at reasonable prices.

The bar is open until 1.00am most nights (except sunday) - which is late for this part of the world and live music is on weekdays and weekends - local folk add some colour to this happening place.

The views from the bar and hostel are fantastic, looking out to Skye bridge and Saucy Mary's castle. The in question is 'what is a Saucy Mary' I'm told the hostel and viklage have coach groups visiting Kyleakin all year round. Suggest bug reviewers see it for themselves.

I stay in hostels not for the luxurious rooms, but for the fun atmosphere and to meet fellow travelers. The most fun I had all summer was the Haggis tour of the highlands, and the most fun nights where at Saucy Mary's. It's in the tiny fishing village of Kyleakin, where all the tour groups visit, and this little pub is the place where everyone goes. It's more lively on any given night, than are some small towns all year. Saucy Mary's now legendary status as a party pub, with live traditional Scottish music, dancing, drinking and debauchery (we paid tribute to the Viking Queen by performing "Saucy Mary's") is a common link with all who have gone on highland tours. The rooms are small, there's not many showers, but they do have a kitchen upstairs and a nice chill out TV room. The pub serves fresh caught seafood, tossed in the pot and cooked and served in the shell. The place is packed with tourists everynight, but there are a few friendly colourful locals there too so it maintains it's authenticity and spontaneity.
