BUG Review
This renovated traditional croft provides all mod cons and its use of local natural materials is stunning. There’s a maritime theme throughout and under floor heating. The location is unrivalled with breathtaking views over Westray’s cliffs. Everything is like new and the staff are flexible and helpful. There are two spacious social areas and a large kitchen, which makes for a good atmosphere.

To be honest, have just arrived today, but this is the most amazing hostel. It's like you've been invited into someone's house! Took the no-linen option as have a sleeping bag and wanted to save the pound or so, but was still offered (and gratefully accepted) a bath towel. Cleanliness - the whole place is immaculate! It's been purpose built and it's fantastic. The views are brilliant, you could sit in the conservatory (complete with books, information, stereo, telescope, everything) all day if you wanted. The showers are good, there is free use of the washing machine and a drying room, the kitchen has everything, including free coffee, sugar, tea, herbs and spices, there is internet access, and a selection of videos. Mountain bikes for hire, everything! Westray is a great island, one of the main bird sanctuary's is a 20-30 minute walk from the hostel, the only thing that might stop some people giving it 5 stars is that it's about a 30 minute walk from the village too. But given the manager's generous offers to drive me into the village, or further afield if I want, I can't even see that as a major problem. If you're in the Orkney's and can't decide which islands to come too - I would suggest Westray in a flash - if for no other reason, than the experience of staying in this hostel! Fantastic..... don't know how will ever go back to the standard...
