BUG Review
The Melrose Youth Hostel is a big mansion just outside town. It has a big kitchen and dining room, a spacious common room and a separate TV lounge.
Price Dorm bed £14.25-15 (£13.25-14 HI/SYHA) Prices are in British pounds and are inclusive of all taxes.
Nice location - walking distance to town centre which has good eating places and a late supermarket.Lovely old building in own grounds.Quite strict considering it welcomes families:1)In bed and lights out by 11.452) No access between 10am - 3pm3) Kitchen is closed at 10am on the dot so don't dare oversleep.4) There is no tv.This is not a bad thing but there aren't any games for young children (just chess) and only a couple of broken toys, so take some activities.5) No meals provided6) Strange one this but NO Alcohol although I did see the odd bottle of wine floating about.Okay for a stopover but I wouldn't plan a long weekend in this hostel.
