Our first stop on a tour of the isles. Ferry broke down en route - owners unphased by very late arrival . Great view over CastleBay from kitchen window- washing up will never be the same again ! Hostel very near ferry . Busy and popular. Sea kayaking and other sports available from hostel. Used to be a family home and retains atmosohere . Very relaxed and comfortable.

This is really a brilliant hostel. The people who run it are great and will do everything they can to help you and make sure you have a nice stay! They hostel is clean and warm and they come and build an open fire for you every day - all you have to do it light it! There is an enormous sitting room with TV and music system (with a good selection of CDs) and kitchen with microwave, two ovens/ grills, fridge/ freezer etc.. The beds are quite big and comfortable (none of these bunks where you sit up and bang you head on the one above), and there are a variety of rooms suitable for different people - ie one twin room, one twin room with a play pen thing, one family room with a double bed and two bunks, and a couple of bunk rooms. Also several bath/ shower rooms. I went out of season when there was hardly anyone else visiting, so I can't really comment on the atmosphere, as I'm sure it's different when there's actually lots of people staying. It's also really close to the ferry terminal (to/ from Oban) and the main set of shops (about 5 mins walk), which is really convenient, and has stunning views from the front of the hostel. It's actually a big old house which is really nice. I really liked my time here, and would actually prefer it over many of the (much more expensive) B&Bs on the island. Would definately recommend! (And I promise this isn't someone who works for the hostel writing this glowing review!)
