BUG Review
This bunkhouse is in a peaceful rural setting by a sea inlet. They run sea kayak courses, so there are often lots of activity going on. The hostel is well used but it’s clean and spacious with a good kitchen, large lounge and dining area with a communal table. It’s very sociable, and the staff are helpful.
Price Dorm bed £9-11 Prices are in British pounds and are inclusive of all taxes.
Pros:
Plenty of space
Cons:
Beds are a bit unconfortable

Stayed her for a couple of nights in November and had the palce to myself. It is fairly large, good sized kitchen area and communal area. The sofas in communal area have seen better days and entertainment is in the form of a radio, books and gamesthere are 5 bedrooms each with 2 bunk beds although the matresses have also seen better daysShowers are good as is the view from the building. 10 minute walk into Lochmaddy and all for £12 per night

We stayed here for 3 nights out of season ( early September ) at a time when there were no school parties and we had the place practically to ourselves. Would not like to stay here with a school group -the wear and tear reflects this kind of traffic- but we were comfortable and there are plenty of walks and trips from the hostel which can arrange seatrips, kayaking etc. . Mattresses need replacing. Costs less if you bring your own bedding - hostel duvets a little grubby.

Laid back place, not many people about even in middle of summer!, June 9, 2007
There is a fantastic museum/art gallery in Lochmaddy that is well worth a look. The local pub does great fish and chips. The hostel was clean and tidy, with bright and airy rooms. I was there in July and there was hardly anyone about (including staff! had to slip my money through a gap in the door!). At times this was a little weird as I kept expecting people to come in and shout at me to get out of their house or something!Lochmaddy is sleepy and small, but the museum is worth a visit and it was the best stopover point on my trip from Lewis - Barra and back. Not the most atmospheric hostel (I think it would be a good place if you were to visit with a group though). Some of the old style SYHAs are more interesting.
