Stayed here for two nights in a private room which was en-suite, cost 26 pppn. The hostel didn't have any vibe to it, but was well managed and kept clean. They ask you to leave the keys at reception when you leave, but try finding the girl when you return! Were forced to eat there for lunch and dinner on our last day as it was raining hard outside. Food wasn't great, not up to the usual high standards of every other place we'd visited in Slovenia. TV in the room for a rainy house-bound day was much appreciated!

This was one of the nicest hostels in Europe. It seemed more like a bed & breakfast than a hostel. The bunk beds were made of high quality wood and had comfortable mattresses and duvets. The bathrooms were modern with hot water and high water pressure. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very, very clean. It is professionally run. There was no communal kitchen, but breakfast is included and there are several good restaurants nearby. I met lots of friendly travellers there. Don't miss the hike to Vintgar's Gorge.

More than a hostel. This place exceeds all expectations. Extremley safe and clean. I reccomend this to anyone that is in the region. Not only the hostel but Slovenia in general. Words can not describe it!

I really liked the Bledec Hostel - the rooms were less hostel and more high quality alpine hotel. Only a 10minute walk (uphill) from the lake and close to the castle - I recommend a visit here and will be back! Not chepa for Slovenia but still amazing value.

i really liked this hostel. one of the best i stayed in around europe. very close to the bus station but not the train. big rooms with big lockers and bathrooms were clean. as mentioned in the previous posts their is one key for the room but it wasn't a problem. had friends staying in different rooms and they were all different sizes. i was in a rather large one which was nice. one internet machine. wash/dry is full service. no complaints for this excellent hostel. though for me the good feeling at the hostel was magnified by the good feeling about the village itself. Bled is beautiful and the locals were some of the friendliest i met traveling Europe.

I had a great time in Bled and met a lot of nice people in the off season at the hostel. The rooms have private baths and nice views. The food and beer available in the kitchen recieved no complaints from us. Breakfast was pretty good and more substantial than bread. Staff was friendly, but do agree with other poster that getting the key to the room was a bit of a pain. Anyhow, nice loaction and you can walk to all the sights and bus station easily.

Ok, this is a really nice hostel, but I don't believe that it's no. 4 in Europe. Well, maybe for an HI hostel... A good location, very clean, nice rooms, I shared a bathroom with the 5 other people in my room, so not bad at all. My two (relatively small) problems were: the price - it's a bit high (17 Euros for a dorm bed for HI members! in May!), though I found Slovenia in general to be that way; and the staff - which didn't seem to actually be their fault. Rather, the owner has them working desk duties as well as waitressing in the attached restaurant, as well as other stuff. The hostel runs on the "one key per room" system, meaning when you're the last one out you drop the key at the desk, and when you're the first in you have to pick it up from the receptionist. The trouble is that it took me at least 5 or 10 minutes every single time to get anyone's attention (they've got the keys locked away, so you can't just take them). And then they seemed exasperated that I was "bothering" them, probably because they had so many other things they were trying to take care of at the same time. Also, not very helpful as far as information for my next destination (Croatia). But certainly a big step above the average hostel. Oh, and the restaurant was pretty good, and actually more reasonably priced than the hostel itself, heheh. If I end up in Bled again, for whatever reason, I might check out another place, though.

Very clean, well furnished hostel. There is a bathroom with shower even in the dorm rooms. Very, very nice and clean and in spring 2004 was 15. They provide a towel and clean the rooms daily. I didn't eat in the restaurant except for the included breakfast which was very nice also.

I was in bled in the spring of 1994.There was only one hostel to stay in at that time,so judging from the discription, this was the place I stayed at.{just up the hill, near to the little castle}There was not alot of tourism in slovenia at that time but the managers at the hostel made me feel welcome, even if I was the only person staying thereslovenia is great and so is bled, check it out!

Bledec was the nicest hostel I stayed in during my entire Slovenian trip. Reasonably priced and very comfortable - great for meeting people while travelling. I did have some difficulty finding the place but it's just straight up the hill from the town - when you reach the top of the hill you should be outside it! The staff were fantasic - extremely friendly and helpful. One of them even came for pints in Pub Bled with us a couple of times! Stayed there for 4 nights before reluctantly moving on to other parts of Slovenia.
