I decided to try the Oasis Backpackers' Hostel after reading the previous reviews from other backpackers. The hostel exceeded my already-high expectations. The beds, rooms, and showers are all very clean. Friendly staff. Laundry service available. Free Internet anytime. Free welcome drink and breakfast. The hostel setting is perfect for meeting other backpackers. The TV room has more DVD's than you'll ever need on the trip. Great view of Granada from the rooftop terrace. Location is great for visits to Alhambra, town centre and gypsy caves. The only thing I would do differently next time is to stay there longer!I've stayed at over 40 or 50 hostels (lost track of how many now) all over Western and Eastern Europe, and I would highly RECOMMEND staying at Oasis Backpackers' Hostel because it is the BEST place I've seen so far.

The lack of reviews for this place is killing me, especially since it was one of the best hostels I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The hostel has all your basic needs and couple extra: No curfew, free internet access, free breakfast, two cooking areas, a common/eating area, a very nice TV room with a DVD player, free dvd rentals, tiny safes (better than no safes), fridge, EXTREME cleanliness, laundry service (5euros i believe), proximity to local supermarkets, rooftop view, 2 minutes away from all the tapas bars and night life, Alhambra's right around the corner (plus a huge hill), oh, and did I mention great staff? ...and it's super clean! You know, the kind of clean where flip-flop showerers don't use their flip-flops to shower..THAT clean!Note: the showers have little cupholders type devices (probably intended for soap or shampoo) where if you're the type, a mug of beer fits perflectly. Genius. As with any hostel, the people you meet and the friends you make are what really makes it fun. Judging by the two times I've been there, the Oasis tends to attract a fun mix of people. Who am I kidding? I had a freaking blast! BOTH times. Who knows, maybe I was just lucky the both times. It happens. But I doubt that that's the case. The place isn't perfect. I mean, the breakfast IS a bit crappy, though you do get all the toast you can eat with 6 different jams to boot. It keeps you filled. And hey, if the toasts runs out, just ask the staff where the food's hidden; trust me, it works. There's a set time when breakfast is SUPPOSED to be over, but I've seen it go on until noon. As for the kitchen area..well, it does the job even though it is a bit tiny. The fridges are usually cramped too, but I have always found space to dump my food. The only other downer is John's music choice when he starts his cleaning ritual. I respect you John, and I like how you make the hostel spotless everyday, but your music hurts my ears. Again, the place isn't perfect, but everything is made up for with the great atmosphere and the brilliant staff. Scott, John, Stella, Mikel...you guys rock! You guys are what make the difference between a nice hostel with decent facilities, and a place that will never be forgotten. Ever.I hope I spelt everyone's name right..if not then I guess I'll be forced to visit Granada for a third time. *cough* hinthint *cough*Stop reading the review. Check it out for yourself.

Well, we were there this "semana santa" and I had a great time. The booking via telephone worked out perfectly and was very smart, since everything was booked out in semana santa. The place is really nice and very clean. Roof terrace makes it even better. Free internet, breakfast simple but enough. If you go to Granada - you have to stay there. Very close to everything - walking distance to center, shops and Alhambra!! Thanks for the nice time!!

The oasis was a little home away from home. Great facilities, DVDs, Stereo, roof top terrace, FREE internet, Kitchens, beds were comfy, lots of bathrooms. The staff was amazing, they were always working to make the hostel better, constantly cleaning. I arrived sick, lost and delusional, and the staff was sweet, delaying the welcome tour and letting me get some rest. Plus they were really fun. Breakfast was simple jam and toast, with coffee or tea, but you could mooch a cup of Tea all day long. There were frequent Tapas Tours, where the whole hostel went out to take advantage of Granadas free tapas. The best part ofmy stay was my last day, because even though i checked out at 11, they let me chill there all day long, and use all the facilities. The only weaknesses i could say with the Oasis: The Dryer was broken so i was unable to use their laundry service, because they were constantly doing sheets to catch up, it was full every night so reservations were nessesary, and i heard that there was a problem with one of the upstairs bathrooms, a stinky problem. Thats it, i coulda lived there.... haha.

The reason for the lack of reviews of this place is because it is absolutely new. I don't think it's even a year old yet. It is beautiful and clean. The only draw back is the dorms have too many beds, but that's it. 15 euros for a dorm and breakfast (toast and jam plus coffee/tea). There is no curfew and the staff are absolutely great. They all speak english and spanish as well and they are always ready to help. We stayed a week at the end of November 2003.There is a good kitchen and the market is about a 5 minute walk away. There is a mini stereo system in the common area and you can make coffee and tea any time. Bring cd's and chill over a cup of tea! Great place to meet people. Laundry service for 5 euros...they do it for you and fold everything. There are 2 computers with free internet access and it is a FAsT connexion. Bathrooms and showers are very clean. There is also a movie room with a flat screen tv and couch and dvd player. They have a modest selection of dvd's but we got free rental coupons from the owner. The location is very close to some great tapa bars. Ask the reception where 'La Riviera' is. It is basically across the main street. You pay 1.30 euro for a glass of vino or beer and you get FREE tapas. An awesome deal as the portions are pretty big for tapas. The staff sometimes organize nights out and everyone goes together. This a smaller hostel but very cozy so book in advance. It's a great place to stay awhile and catch your breath. I'd stay again without a doubt!
