I only stayed at this hostel back in 1992 but I thought it's better to have old information than none at all. I was very impressed by this hostel at the moment. It was very warm and clean and it has impressive views of the mountains from all windows. It was very good value, too. The dormitories only have 4 beds each, so they were cosy and relatively private and if you go in low season as I did (which doesn't necessarily mean you can't ski) there is a good chance you will have one whole dormitory to yourself for the length of your stay (due to cultural reasons the Spaniards are not keen on sharing a bedroom with strangers so I guess this is something that may happen often, making Spanish youth hostels extra-comfortable for foreign hostellers). The style of this hostel is very functional and rather characterless, but this affects the whole of Sierra Nevada village, which is 100% purpose-built like some French ski resorts although perhaps not so ugly as they are. My only quibble was the showers, which belong to each individual dormitory but they didn't drain very well and tended to flood the whole bathroom. Still I had a very comfortable stay there. The food was very unremarkable but also cheap and almost adequate, and after dinner you can watch TV sitting in some very cushy sofas. To give you an idea this hostel was much better than Zermatt HI used to be before their recent renovation.
