BUG Review
Out of the city centre, but certainly not off the beaten path, Terramar is easily reached by Palma's frequent and cheap bus service, whether you arrive by air or sea. Though the number of stairs between the waterfront (bus stop No. 1) and reception borders on sadistic, you are rewarded with an unfailingly friendly staff, a chilled atmosphere and free WiFi. There's a baby grand piano too, if you're in the mood for song. Kitchen facilities are adequate, but tight and two outdoor terraces, one on the roof, invite repose and socializing. Security is on the light side (though the neighbourhood is non-threatening) and some rooms are heat traps at the height of summer (no AC anywhere in the building), but overall this is a quality budget option.
Price Dorm bed €20 Single room €32-42 Double room €42-55 Prices are in euro and are inclusive of all taxes.
We had the worst experience taking a taxi to this hostel, first they took us to the wrong place "Tierramar" in the wrong town and then expected us to pay for the entire thing. So if you do take a taxi make absolutely sure they know the address and get a price quote ahead of time! But I think it was just a scam, the bus service is great in Palma so I would reccommend just doing that. The hostel was otherwise good!

I stayed in the 5 bed crew room one the roof in Sept.17 euros a night, 100 per week. book on their website.GOODS: It was a nice set up. no bunkbeds. and there is a cupboard for each person. there is a kitchen to use, and a living room to sit around in. the room is on the roof, so you have a full patio to sit on and eat and relax in the sun. The beach is very close, you can walk(25) mintues or take a bus 15 minutes. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the ferry, and it is a long climb up the stairs with your backpack.BADS: I would have given it 5 stars, but it is not very clean. they say it is cleaned every tuesday. but tuesday came and went. When 4 people are living in place, of course it can get dirty....mostly just the floor. The next week they came, but just a 10 minute quicky. I would recommend that they supply a broom at least, so the guest can sweep the floor. But really the whole place needs a good clean. There were ants in the kitchen...even in the cutlery drawer. and the patio is nice...but how long would it take to wash it down with a hose. They have a fan...but it is under the bed....doesn´t do much good down there does it?

I recently spent a week in Palma. Arriving i Palma without any accommodation, I had to find a place to stay as soon as possible. At an internet-cafe near the bus-station, I visited BugEurope's internet-pages where I found a link to a booking agency at 'http://hostelterramar.com' powered by 'Palma Accommodation managed by La-Bonanova Ltd'. There I submitted a booking for two nights in a single room at the Hostal Terramar located at the Plaza Mediterrano 8 in Palma, 25 euros each night. I also got contact with the booking agency via MSN so I could 'talk' directly to them. They explained me that they would charge 5 euros for the booking. I should also be aware that this would be drawn from the room prize, so that I should pay only 20 eruos the first night. Arriving at the hostal, the receptionist told me that they had never got any booking, no single rooms were available, and that thy did not do any business with the booking agency... I therefore had to take double room, more expensive. I anyway decided to stay since I did not want to carry my luggage to another hostal so late in the afternoon.I later contacted the booking agency, telling my story, asking them to cancel the charging of 5 euros since the booking did not work out. They refuse to do that, since they mean they helped me find the hostal, believe it or not...So my advice is, call or go directly to the hostal and do NOT USE ANY BOOKING AGENCIES.I had a nice stay at the hostal anyway, the hostal had nice clean rooms. I left after one night, a little dissappointed by all the trouble...

I recently organised my best friend's hen-night. We chose Palma because of the night-life (Ibiza's big brother). I booked the Terramar because of it's location in the club district. Wow we thought on arrival as the dashing Bob showed us to our floor. This was part hostal part stately home. We followed the music and found the Friday night barbecue in full swing on the roof. A few beers and burgers later we hit Pacha's (cool outdoor club) and that was the last clear memory of the weekend. We had a fabulous time and will definitely heading back soon.

The staff are freindly, the hostel is clean andnear the beach and shops, etc. But there's lots of stairs, so trying to drag your luggage any further than floor one can be a nightmare, but dont let that put you off, the rooms are clean and there's a bar just not much else. Theres an internet cafe just round the corner but the owners a bit moody so just smile at him !!

I recently went to Palma for a weekend break to escape the dull London weather and found a great place on the net to stay and wanted to inform all you backpackers out there, Hostel Terramar! It has only just opened and has been through somewhat of a refurb, very clean, bright and spacious rooms. Given that I was only there for the weekend I opted for a 1-bed flatlet @ 80Euro per night, with my own ensuite, kitchenette/diner and lounge area but rooms do start from 25Euro per night (or 15Euro if you want to use the crew room - share with others). It was well placed in town for shops, clubs, pubs & restaurants and only a short (very easy) bus ride to the beach (which is walkable but I was too lazy!). It also has a great communial area with a baby grand piano, what a wizz, and a large sun terrace that overlooks the harbour. Very nice. Anyway if you are ever on the Island or Majorca I would recommend you give this place a try. Apparently it is the sister Hostel to the Apuntadores but much better. The Hostel link is http://www.hostelterramar.com. Thanks for reading.... Vx
