The prices on this page are not accurate. I am 26 years old, stayed there in August, and one night was 17,-. Breakfast included (8:30-9:30), linen not included. At night they shut the doors at 4:00, in the morning you need to leave the room at 10:00. I met some Italians last night, and could not join them for the disco-party, too late. And this morning, I missed the breakfast and I'm still tired (need 2 hours more), as always in those hihostels.Free internet, a place to leave your luggage before check-in. Kitchen to cook your own meals in the evening.Room squeezed with bunks (which I don't mind) and not the best ventilation (two quite small windows, at least on the highest floor. Typical little moisture problems in the shower rooms..The staff will do their job, but they are not as friendly as I know it from other hostels. The guests are nice.Location (very west of town) is good for going to the beach and shopping, but quite a walk (or take a bus for 1,-) to the old town center. The city is great, and I also like the people there.Maybe the other hostels are better for partying, but they seem unable to answer the phone..

I really wanted to check this hostel, especially that this is the cheapest accomodation in Donostia. But it seems I have no chance. I wanted to book a bed in august, so i gave the ALL the details concerning me, along with my credit card number. At first they did't reply at all, after my 2 emails it appeared they had problems with charging my card. I called my bank and people told me they are trying to do that in a wrong way. So I wrote them why is it so and what they should do. They made no effort to check the transaction from their side. They said I should check whether I have money on my card... Treated me not as a customer, but as a thieve who wants to fool them out of 16 euros!!!

This is a great hostel. The staff were great. Its only a 20 min walk by the beach to the town and I walked it in rain and it was still beautiful! There`s a bus from the train station anyway (no 24 to Hotel San Seb, take first left, go straight on and take last left). The cheapest, cleanest place with free internet cheap laundry and hot water. What more could you want!

Have to disagree with the other guys on this one. For an International Youth Hostel this one was tops, thought the staff were really friendly, so cheap and although it was about a 20min walk into the main area of town, the walk was along the beach and so pretty I definately didn't mind. They have self service cheap laundry and brekkie included, and if you are there in the middle of summer (right after Pamps like I was) and see the prices of the other places a little closer into town (30euro for a dorm room in some pensions) then this place is definately good value!

My answer to this question, is yes. I made the mistake of not booking ahead in San Sebastian in August and got a rude awakening. The first night the only thing I could find was a nice hotel for 25 dollars (american) but that was sharing the room with three strangers. The next morning, one of the men I shared a room with the night before, and I walked ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE CITY at 9 am so we could be at the hostel at 10 to get our names on the lists....yes, there is no prebooking so get there early early EARLY!!!While the people were extremely unfriendly and very strict about their rules it was clean and due to having to wait in the main room for two hours to see if you get a room does make you meet people.

A bit far from the city centre, so you'll probably need a bus to come and go. The staff is everything but friendly, though they don't verge on the rude and despicable - so long as you don't make the faintest noise after curfew.Great laundry and kitchen facilities, and the dorms are roomy and spotless.
