The hostel is in a good place, just a few minutes walking to the center. Dont have lockers, but it seemend to be secure. The bedrooms are mixed and have just one bathroom for 20 persons... The other bathrooms are in other floor, and its not very practical. But the beds are confortable. The man that stays at the reception was very kind when I phoned to make a reservation but once I arrived, he wasnt very friendly. You have to pay in separate for the breakfast and its a better idea to eat in the street because the breakfast is very poor. They dont have a kitchen, a common area or internet acess.

Positives - within walking distance of the sights; bathrooms are clean; staff are helpful; large common room.Negatives - 20 to 30 people in the same room in summer is a nightmare because there are no fans or air-conditioners; there is a lock-out during siesta time; no kitchen facilities available; there is an ensuite bathroom attached to the room but with so many people in the room it is kindest on everyone if this is only used as a last resort.

I personally found my stay there very enjoyable. Yes the rooms are big, but this is an HI hostel - no big deal. I found no problems with the bathrooms, I don't know if the other reviewers were in different rooms but the bathroom in my dorm was easily big enough and clean. As for the reception, I found them very freindly (although I did converse with them in Spanish) - they even gave me a book off the communal shelf for free when I asked if I could buy it from them. However I agree the internet is an absolute joke - it must be below 14.4 kbps, it really is slow! But overall I had a great time here and would go again - not amazing but nothing to really complain about.

I stayed in this hostel for just one night with my friends... The lady at the reception wasn't very helpful, she speaks very little english but she's trying. Room were OK, newly renovated with very good beds (16 of them in this particular room called plaza mayor). The toilete is no good at all,not that clean. I am not a big guy but i couldn't fit in those tiny showers. The location is very good, 5 min from plaza mayor, but if you are with car leave it anywhere near hostel because it is very hard to find the street where hostel is by car.BUT SALAMANCA IS GREAT !!! I am sorry I couldn't have been there more !!!

The hostel is very typical in terms of having 30 beds to a large room and yes there is only a small ensuite to the room but there is a bigger bathroom downstairs, despite the fact you cant sit on the toilet and close the door (who designs toliets like this?) and there is never any toilet paper, although if you ask you can get some. There is no breakfast either, but beds are cheap and pretty comfy. no lockers or storage space either. The location though is very good although hard to find cos they are in a little side street. Its only 7 min walk to the plaza mayor and the pumping nightlife.this town has a great atmosphere and is packed with student life which is what you come here for, not to sleep in a big dorm. oh and they have internet access which is ridiculously slow but if you use it at 3am u will usually get it for free. its a 24hr hostel.

This hostel is very typical. It is comfortable and good. I would stay here again, but it is certainly not the best. The shared room has 15 bunk beds (capacity of 30 people), however, there were only 5 of us in the whole room. Beds - comfy and long.Shower - HOT HOT HOT BURNING HOT, too small, though.Reception - A little absent minded but nice. They didn't have change when I tried to pay, but they let me pay later. Location - Awesome. Short walk from the cathedrals and old city. I suggest using bus #1 to get from the train station to the ¨Plaza Mayor¨ when arriving, though. It is a good 30 min walk with huge packs (like mine). Be sure to get some good directions or a map. The hostel is on a tiny side street. No breakfast, despite rumors. You can pay 1.80 for meager coffee and a muffin in the morning, but that seems stupid to me. Good place to crash. Nice and cheap. Nothing special, though. Salamanca is really special, though, so it is worth it.

This hostel is the most disgusting place I´ve ever slept. We were put into a huge mixed dorm with 20 - 30 beds, and as there was no ventilation the smell of 20+ people breathing, farting etc just hung in the air and was so strong that it was impossible not to feel sick. People slept at all hours of the day and it was hard not to disturb or be disturbed by the constant comings and goings, even at 4am... in the big room there was only one toilet and shower that served everyone. The larger bathroom downstairs was so fetid and disgusting i felt like i had to wash after putting my foot on the floor (it was wet, smelly, mouldy and dirty). It´s impossible to sit on the toilet and close the door, and the supply of paper is erratic at best. There is a public dining room but no sink or cooking facilities, and the provided breakfast was a very small, stale bread roll with jam and a cup of hot chocolate or coffee. The people using the hostel were almost entirely spanish and made no effort to communicate - an although the staff spoke a little english, which is very rare across the board in Spain, we were not made to feel welcome or given the run'down on the hostel rules. I couldn´t get out of there fast enough.

I stayed in a single room of the hostel. It was on the first floor of a separate building in a noisy four lane road. The staff was friendly but, in spite of the IH symbol hanging on the wall, I got no discount with my IH card. The room was newly renovated, clean and all that but the toilet bowl, adjoining the plastic wall of the shower, was literally impossible to sit on.

There are only one or two big rooms in this hostel, with maybe 30 bunk beds to a room. It's a bit irritating because there is always someone sleeping, so it's hard to talk or make any noise. Despite that, the facilities were clean and I met a lot of great people here. The location is good, and Salamanca is a really nice town - a lot quieter than than Madrid, but because of the University they're used to college-age students and very tolerant of younger travellers.
