The best thing about this hostel is that it was right on the beach! Near lots of restaurants and bars. Nice walk to Las Ramblas. The rooms were stuffy but air conditioned, which was a treat in the summer. The bathrooms were also nice. Good free breakfast too. Only complaint would be about the staff. They were quite unhelpful and were not friendly. It was a rainy Sunday, so we decided to go shopping and asked the guy at the desk where to go. He sent us on a long bus ride to an area that wasn't even open on Sunday. Later he told us where we could find a laundromat. Then on our way out with our laundry we hear him tell someone else that it closed three hours ago and he didn't bother to tell us. Just a bit annoying. Overall great place and I would definately stay again.

My review for this place is mixed. Most of the staff are extremely friendly, helpful, and happy to answer the most basic questions on all sorts of things for your Barcelona experience. And while I didn't use them, the hostel has a range of activities available eg pub crawl party or walking tour of the city. However, one of the staff was very unhelpful, and I unfortunately experienced him on my first day. I'd booked a 6 bed dorm (there is only one, the rest are 7 - 9), was put in a 9 bed dorm, and the bed was up to the third level. I changed rooms but was allocated the worst bed in the room which was clearly being used by someone else judging by the bag, towel, crips, drink, and bong (yes, you read right) on and around the bed. He refused to change my allocated bed, and eventually I just said I was using the aparently spare bed. Maybe it helped that there was another staff member there to witness this by then. He said there were friends of his in this room and he would tell them. For some people this might not be a big deal, but I certainly expect more. In contrast, other staff helped me book a flight, understand the buses/trains, and were supportive in my quest to secure a cancelled bed when they were full. You should also be aware of the rooms. Though they may have say 7 beds, they are poorly divided so the reality is you are sharing with the noise habits of 3 dorms - you can hear people like they are on the bed next to you in many cases (I was in 3 rooms by the end of a 5 night stay). You will need to pay for sheets, towels and blankets (a flat fee), and daily for your locker. Lockers don't always match the bed numbers, and there are no keys to the rooms. Security was good though, with someone always on the desk, and after hours entry requiring your hostel pass to get past the security guy who takes his work seriously. A couple of times though the side door was open which was a wee concern. On a bright note, the breakfast is good (hot drinks of choc, tea, coffee; cereals x4, juice x3, toast, fruit, muffins - and they seem happy for you to take extras for your day. The bar staff who provide the breakfast may be a bit grumpy (or perhaps not speaking english well, was difficult to understand, though I did attempt spanish) but that's a small issue for the feed you get.Location-wise, it IS right on the beach, perfect for morning swims or hanging out all day. We were warned about muggings and pickpocketing, and I heard of 3 cases, one outside the hostel, but don't think that is unique to the area. La Ramblas is about a 20 minute walk and the nearest metro (Barceloneta) is less than 10 minute walk. Three buses are outside the door, and the buses in Barcelona are pretty good.Overall, if you are aware of the potential ups and downs of this place, it IS worth a look, and was certainly very busy during my stay.

This hostel was the best location for me, the beach is all you need in Barcelona and you are near La Rambla. The hostel is clean and smaller rooms for about 19 euro a night. I really loved this hostel and would stay again, best bathrooms in hostels I saw. I also jumped in the Mediterrian which is a bit cold in Feburary but can't wait to go back in the summer. Have fun!

I wish we had more time there. It was so nice to get to a hostel that had air conditioning and it really is right on the beach! I liked the set up of the dorms, they are narrow and separated by boards. Good breakfast, free internet (2 computers), about 15 minute walk to La Rambla. The directions from the rail station to the hostel are somewhat ambiguous so make sure you have a good map. They don't have bed sheets so we did get a little cold at night but it wasn't too bad. The worst part was that we had an obnoxiously loud snoring man next to us and I'm sure the entire floor heard him because the walls are very thin and don't go all the way up to the ceiling. You can hear everyone else talking or snoring. It was pretty clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. Don't take hop on hop off tour in Barcelona, it's not worth it. Stay at Seapoint you won't be disappointed.

The hostel is in a great location, right near the beach and not far from the Las Ramblas. Unfortunately, not the nicest staff i´ve ever encountered. One staff member wanted me to switch rooms halfway thru my stay, which i didnt see the point. I caught him unlocking my luggage store door with the main keys, about to move my stuff without my permission! I ended up shifting rooms, and i dont know if it was because of that incident, but he gave me a bed right by the door to an 11-bed dorm, so no sleep had, and in front of ppl´s lockers, so all night i was woken up by ppl trying to get to their stuff! Better options out there definetly, so have a look around for other places.

It worked for a place to sleep but was a bit expensive for spain. Definately clean and the staff was nice and friendly. Large coed dorm rooms so it is noisy, but the beds are separeted by walls and each has thier own little light. Breakfast was one of the best i've encountered for hostels, free internet, (just 2 computers) and it was on the beach. It is a bit far from other sites in the city and top sheets or blankets are not included.

Really nice. Clean, good size beds and a good bathroom. The breakfast is nice-you can help yourself to as much cake/fruit/drink and bread as you want (which I did do, to keep feed me later). A good 10 min walk from las ramblas but the beach is so nice that was not a problem. Near lots of things like port velo a supermarcat and resturant. Much better than karbul hostel which looked a bit grotty!

This hostel had its pros and cons.....It is not for everyone. I gave it 4 stars based on the location...if you picked this hostel up and put it down elsewhere in the city I would only give it a 3. This is a great place to stay if you want to spend time on the beach. It is literally right on the beach and if you plan of using it regularly then definately stay here...the location makes up for its other downfalls. If you don't care for the beach or the weather isn't good enough to use the beach then don't bother, you can do better. The problem with this hostel is that it is quite a ways from the train station, as in 2 metro train changes...a bit of a hassle and then a 10 minute walk from the barcelonetta station...In my opinion, worth the hassle if you love and will use the beach but not if you don't...the hostel itself is not that nice and is further from the main sites as others would be. They charge you extra if you want sheets, extra for a blanket, extra for a locker. The dorms are really just a large room with vertical dividers to separate them into 6 bed smaller long narrow rooms...problem with that is the divider walls don't go right to the roof and are not even remotely sound proof...this was the LOUDEST hostel I was at in 6 weeks. ..so while is appears as though you are in a small 6 bed room you get the noise of a 24 bed room...and only the room at the end has the windows. The showers are good, I will give them that. A bathroom for each 6 bed separated rooms. The bathrooms are new, modern, nice, good pressure, hot water, push button but each push gives you 15-20second of water and you don't have to wait for it to turn off to hit the button again, you can keep hitting it for a constant stream of water. The place is cleaned well daily. The internet is free. The common room is not great...just a couple couches but not in a very nice area..isn't inviting or cozy at all. I didn't find this place to be homey at all and not really condusive to socializing. It was a 15 minute walk to the Los Ramblas area and a 10 minute walk to the closest metro station so a bit of a hike to get anywhere.Breakfast is included and actually quite good for a free breakfast..fruit, buns/bread with jam, juice, hot chocolate, coffee/tea... and for some wierd reason a large assortment of little debbie type snack cakes.
