Fillipino bitch! Stay away from this place at all costs. This woman manager is retarded, June 4, 2008
Pros:
If the Fillipino people that ran the place, sold the business it may be a better place
Cons:
They've scarred me for life. As a migration officer in Australia I will refuse entry 2 all Fillipino

Ideal Youth Hostel is undoubtley the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. I rarely complain when I have a problem, nor do I go out of my way to write reviews such as this. No level of customer service, and is primarily focused on making money at every opportunity - from bed linen to even charging for storing baggage for 1 hour after departing. The receptionist (maybe the manager - as she is mostly on the desk) was always very rude and disrespectful. She was very aggressive in her manner. They charge different rates for every guests ranging from 12 euros per night (via the internet) to as high as 30 euros per night (arrive in person) without breakfast for the same bed. The average price for Barcelona hostels is between 14 - 17 euros (including breakfast) and you can get these rates if you just showed up in person to any other hostel . The reception closes at 8pm which means you must stay in dull rooms and also makes it hard to meet and interact with other travellers. Beds are very uncomfortable and noisy. The shower in the room did not work and had to use showers in another room with very little hot water. Everything positive in their advertisement is absolutely the opposite. Food is over priced and better off eating in a restaurant. Internet is not accessible, as the reception closes at 8pm, so do all the other facilities. The rooms are cold at night. The terrace has no view. They have crammed as many beds as they can into each room, therefore personal space is a lot less compared to other dorms in other places. Other guests felt the same way and left, and since I paid in advance I was obliged to stay. One guest referred to this hostel as being a prison and us as prisoners rather than guests - She was not wrong. Location is the only positive aspect of this hostel. But there are many hostel also in prime locations on the Ramblas. If you still decide to go after reading this, one tip is: to ask to see the rooms before making a booking. I guarantee they won´t allow it as you will definitely have second thoughts, also is also the reason their advertisement does not include photographs of the room. Good luck in finding a nice hostel, which definately exist in Barcelona

As if I can give a 0.1 point.Fuck me hard... ideal my fucking ass.The Filipino staffs are rude, they poked at us when we complain that my perfume was stolen and spoke in Filipino language as if no-one can understand them. I saw the cleaner opened my toiletteries bag when I was just about to go to sleep. Having said that, I have met some nice mates here. Just that the staff are unrealiable, bull-shitting and making fun of the lodger.Avoid this crap.

just say that i did well not booking this hostel. when i rang all i had time to say was...Hola?after it was...Espera...and 3minutes of a language i didn't understand at all (now i know it was phillipino).i kept saying that i was calling from a pay phone, but no notice. So i hung up and rang again. this time they kept cutting me off without picking up the phone, so i decided to go for Barcelona Mar Youth Hostel. Which turned out to be perfect in nearly every way. Specially the receptionists...very friendly and helpful...chat the girl up and she'll help you with just about anything (take it easy boys!)

My boyfriend and I were there for 3 nights in a double room with private WC + shower. We actually didn't stay in the main hostel but the building just down the block off on La Rambla 41. The room was ok. They were located on the rooftop (6th floor) and the building didn't have a lift. The bathroom was small but clean and the shower drained slowly. The hot water doesn't last so I suggest getting wet and then turn off the water so you don't get ice water dumped on you. I would say that the warm water lasts long enough for you to wash the shampoo out of your hair and rinse off, but not long enough to keep on the whole time. The water pressurse is ok.The beds were loud and uncomfortable. The matresses are just foam conceiled in a sheet and yes, you have to rent sheets and pillows for the unreasonable price of 6.50 Euros. Breakfast looked like a joke, it was some tiny muffins (magdalenas) and some aweful tasting orange juice. There is a market just down the street though, I would suggest grabing something to eat there. They do have a laundry facility located on the rooftop of the main building. It's 8 euros to wash and dry and the detergent is included. There are 2 computers for free internet in recepetion, which is a plus... but then again, other hostels in Barcelona (which are also located next to La Rambla ) also offer free internet. The receptionist were nice as long as you don't really ask for assistance. =/ However, if you tell them you're Philipino, then you get free bed sheets and they give you tokens for laundry. Now how fair is that?

It is the worst hostel I have ever stayed at and I have travelled to over 20 countries. This must be Barcelona's version of Fawlty Towers. The Phillipino owners are rude, they shout at people. At one stage they were swearing in Spanish at this poor Swedish guy who wanted to leave a day early. Me and 4 German and Swedish have already complained to the Barcelona Tourist board abouth this hostel. The mattresses are dirty too and be prepared to be charged for sheets.
