You wouldn´t say this is a hostal from the outside, just a small yellow card indicates you're dealing with one. The staff speaks English which is a nice thing in Spain and their hostal is cosy and small. Only 22 people can sleep in this hostal and that makes you feel like you're sharing your appartment with 21 strangers who want to same as you: a night's rest after a long day of playing for tourist in Barcelona.

Just had a long weekend and I am not a student but was made very welcome by the hosts and students who were there. Clean and tidy, breakfast could be a bit better at very little cost.

Near the center, kind people, neat kitchen and bathroom. It is just a small place, but with many possibilities, like Video, TV, Internet. The price is also quite low compared with other hostels in such a big city. In sum I have a good experience there and wish to stay there again if I go to Barcelona in the future.

Based on the info from this website, I chose to stay here for 4 nites during mid Sep. And the outcome, meeting my expectation as a backpacker from the far SEA country. The dorm bedroom size is moderate with 8-12 tenants. Quiet at night, this is a place to hav nice sleep after a tiring day tour. The facilities considered pratical includes having free access 2 internet, living room with tables and chairs. This is the place where I studied my next-day plan and activities while sipping a cup of coffee in the morning. And I hav d chance on meeting people from other countries & we exchanged info. The english-speaking staffs were friendly, and gave me a fair view of point on the good restaurant in town. The location wise-it's just 10-min walk distance from the more crowded La-Rambla. However, it's only 5-min walk to the Passeig de-Gracia bus stop/metro, which is really conveniently going to the famous spots of BCN.There's a market/supermarket within walking distance where I can buy cheaper daily stuffs such as mineral water, sangrias, fruits, etc. The delta could be it's a bit hot at night during summer, and the hostel closed at weekend (or was it coincidently a holiday? I guess u might want to check with the hostel staff first).

I stayed in this hostel some weeks ago, after being in some others that, for a higher price, only offered accommodation in bedrooms for 10 or 12 people. At Backpackers BCN you can be sure that the price you pay includes breakfast, bed linen, internet, hot water in nice showers, use of the kitchen and you can borrow DVD's and watch them in the living room. Taxes are also included. The staff is very kind, always helpful. The hostel is specially quiet at night. There is no big party atmosphere but there aren't teenagers running and shouting around all day and night. Curfew is from 3.00 a.m. to 7.30 a.m. and this avoids people going in and out the bedrooms during the night.I definetely reccomend it to tourist who need to relax at night to go on doing things the next day.

I selected this place because it's small (18 beds), shared in small rooms (you don't find the 8-12 ppl room you have in other similar hostels) for its price (16-breakfast included-free lockers) and well positioned. Close to the main square, close to the railway/bus link to airport, enough close to sagrada familia, easy walking distance from most popular streets/shopping streets. Clean and friendly, the personnel is very helpful, the people there are quiet. There is curfew from 3 am to 8 am so if it's summer and you want to go partying all night remember that. But it helps so you don't have people coming in all night hours. The website explains it all, except from the curfew. RECOMMENDED

I didn´t even stayed there, although I would like to. I asked for a reservation and a lady answered me that there where places and asked my credit card. Once I replied her with my cc info, she said she was sorry but the hostel ran out of places. That wasn´t nice.Whatever, I agree the message below: it would cost me only 34 for a double room, if there was one...

We (6 fine young men) went there June 19th till 23th 2003. The hostel is situated near Plaza Catalunya, about 10 min. walking. From the airoport take a train to this square and then the metro to Girona. The hostel is located in a safe area.Inside everything is very clean and quiet, the people are friendly. A small kitchen provides most neccessary things. There are 18 places, but there are only two toilettes and three showers. You can rent good lockers for 5 euros. Outside there's a small terrace.Click here for some pictures.Rico van Houten

The hostel is located about 10 minutes away from las Ramblas and is a great place to stay. It is clean and has a friendly atmosphere. There is also breakfast included, a fully equipped kitchen and free internet!!!
