we picked this place because it was the cheapest place to stay. the beds were comfortable, we had lockers by our beds which was nice, a sink in our room, and the bathrooms were nice and clean. the location was very good too, walking distance to both train stations and the main streets. we met ppl in the hostel but it was unfortunate that there wasn't a common area to hang out in. the bar downstairs didn't really want you to stay there unless you were gonna buy food. it seemed to us that the restaurant/bar was the main business and they had a hostel thing on the side. they didn't have a reception area so every time u walked in or had to ask a staff member something, you had to walk into the restaurant. kinda strange. overall though, it wasn't a bad place to stay in interlaken

no complaints here... price was reasonable (and our double room ended up being a huge room meant for four people with only the two of us!), good beds, clean rooms, nice showers/WCs, great location, pleasant staff. we wanted someplace a little quieter to stay so that we could go out and party at the other hostels (balmers, funny farm) but come back to sleep--it worked out really well (for a fun evening, go buy some beer at the coop and take it to the funny farm bonfire rather than paying a ton for their drinks). the other guests were all chill, and the bar downstairs is cool. they also could book any activity you wanted, altho we ended up doing it ourselves through the wonderful push-button boards at interlaken west (canyoning--you gotta try it!). free use of their lockers if you have your own padlock. definitely recommended!

This is the least expensive place I stayed at (about $14, USD for a dorm bed) and it was much better than I expected. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms were great as well (use the ones down, DOWN the hall as they are bigger). Interlaken is beautiful, though expensive so it was great to have such a cheap (and nice!) place to stay. Only drawbacks were the somewhat thin duvets (I pinched an extra one from an empty bed to keep warm!) and the noise from the bar downstairs when they have live music nights. I would definitely recommend it!

This place is great. I've stayed in a few different places in Interlaken including Balmers Herberge which I'll add was also good but not nearly as quiet and peaceful. The girl at the bar was really nice and told me about all sorts of stuff to do (I already knew lots about Interlaken but she was so nice I didn't have the heart to tell her I did). I got a large single room in October for 30CHF (dorm beds were 19CHF)! I do, however, think that it's a bit more expensive in the summer. The bar is OK and always filled with locals (depends if that's you thing or not). The location is right in town and really close to Balmers if you're relatively young and want a place to party at night too. The only drawbacks was that The Happy Inn was somewhat rundown and the bar was not a great place to meet other travellers. There are lots of places in Interlaken to meet other travellers though. Recomended.

My friend and I stayed here in August. The staff are very friendly, the bar below is always busy and a good place to hang out. We stayed in a twin room which was nice and clean with cosy big duvets, which you need as its cold! and I should know coming from Scotland. My only gripe is the breakfast which costs extra consists of bread and jam with a cup of coffe or orange juice, not worth paying the extra.

well i stayed at the happy inn about a year ago with some friends. Overall, a very enjoyable stay. The rooms were very simple, two sets of bunk beds, and i think a sink. The downstairs was a bar, and it was pretty busy at night. The only thing about the room that wasn't cool was it was a bit noisy at night with the craziness in the bar below, but perhaps a different room would make the difference. Other than that, breakfast was included, just toast and juice and stuff, but still nice. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. I remember we chose the happy inn because it was fairly cheap, and centrally located. There was also an amazing pizza place/restaurant next door, that i would recommend. I would defanitely say to give the Happy Inn a try, it was a great stay place and we had a wonderful time.
