This was a wonderful hostel, once you got there! We had a lot of trouble finding it -- try to pick up a map at the train station, which will have more detail than the map provided by the hostel. The hostel was clean and comfortable. We stayed in a 6-person dorm room which had lockers for everyone. The bathrooms on the floor were clean and nice. The free breakfast was great - cereal, coffee, bread & jam, yogurt, etc. The internet in the lobby is overpriced (go to an internet cafe).

It's slightly out of the way from city center. We took bus 18 which dropped us off at the "Jugendherberge" stop. Look left when you are dropped off, if you see a little yellow sign with the tree, that's the short cut way to the hostel. If you plan to arrive late at night especially on the weekends, be mindful of when the buses stop running. Friendly reception, at least english, french, german spoken. 12.5 CHF for dinner, don't bother, the food was awful, you are better off saving the money and pigging out during the buffet breakfast. Standard breakfast of juice/coffee/milk, cereal, yogurt, cheese, bread. We stayed in a 6bd dorm room. Standard, a bit on the crammped side, nothing special. One toilet and one shower on our side of the building, which by counting doors, served 10+ people? I had to wait for the shower a few times. All the lights are sensors and timers. If you are in the WC too long (more than like a minute) the lights turn off. Same thing for the shower, you're in the dark after a while and you're just hoping someone would walk by in the hallway for the sensor to turn back on. A couple of computers for the internet station. Costs too much, I found that phoning my friends in the states was cheaper using the swisscom payphones. A 30 minute call was under 5 CHF (1.5 chf=1 usd). Lockers in the rooms and hallway, the good kind where you get your money back. No kitchen privileges, but someone said that if you ask, reception will heat up your food with the microwave for you. A lounge area with TV. Reception sells postcards and stamps, perfect for the rainy weekend nights when the buses stop running and you can't figure you way into town...
