This hostel was great to get to after all the hustle and bustle of the big cities and big dorm rooms, this was the perfect place to relax. Beautiful room with only four beds and a balcony which overlooked the beautiful lake luzern, you really couldn't ask for a better view even from a 5*hotel, the swiss alps and a glacier lake, heaven. The staff were friendly though it was hard to get them, they were very busy. Had the cleanist showers and toilets iv seen in a hostel with alot of privacy. It is a small trek to the hostel, but the breathtaking view on the way makes up for it. Also right accross fromt he hostel is the lake front beach which is a great place to lie out and relax or just play football or frizbee on the grass. The bar right next door to the hostel, does great pizza and lovely beer, ask for the swiss beer "Cardinal" its great, plus the staff there are amazingly friendly, they get very few clientele so be good to them and go in for a few beers. Or cheaper version get a couple of beers in the supermarket(cheap for swizerland) and sit on the balcony. Visit the Lion monument its amazing!

The place is quite nice, next to the lake. I found the dorm room, bathroom, and showers quite clean. The hostel has kitchens which is very helpful when you're in the expensive Switzerland. I found the staff quite helpful. The hostel is closed between 10-4 but you can leave your stuff there. The only downside about this hostel is probably the fact it's about 12 mins away from the train station and not anywhere close to the old town.

not as well located as others...probably the same amount to walk but through a kind of dodgy area - which is excellent in the day as it gets you to see things outside of the tourist centre, and it has a cool park right across the road - gets seedy at night though. closed from 10 - 4, but you can put your bags there. suave design, and a real effort has been made to make the common room comfy and relaxed, and its easy to ge chatting with other people staying there. staff are friendly, but busy so dont have much time to go out of their way to give you info. on average best hostel in luzern

The hostel is located about 10-15mins walk from the train station. The rooms are modern and the toilets and showers are clean. You are not allowed in the room between mid morning and late afternoon as that's when they are cleaned. We stayed on the 2nd floor and didn't see the lake. You get a view of the lake only if you are on the higher floors because there are trees in front of the hostel. I wouldn't say the staff are friendly but they aren't rude either. Probably the only gripe I have of this place is the location. On occasion we got back to the hostel, we felt too discouraged to walk back out to the city because of the distance. Bottom line, I'll still come back here to stay because the rooms are clean and comfortable.

The lake is right there for you to lounge at! It's clean and after the hostel I stayed at just before this one, I took two showers a day. The water in Switzerland is beautifully clear and clean...and it's everywhere! The front desk was even kind enough to accept Euros, Pounds, and even US dollars besides the swiss franc. Lovely place.

This place is in a fantastic location, metres from the side of Lake Lucerne, the most beautiful lake I, personally, have seen. The staff were not as helpful and polite as the guestbook raved about them being, but they weren't too bad. Lucerne is a beautiful town and this hostel is a nice base. My biggest criticism would be the social area: like many hostels in Switzerland, the area wasn't a great place to meet people. On the postive side, they offer a cheap laundry service; the beds were comfortable; the bathrooms clean. I'd stay here again if I ever returned to Lucerne.

It is never easy with 4 children in tow to find a comfy "home" for a couple of days, but the setup and people here enabled us to regroup, relax, eat and swim in one of the better hostels around. Clean, friendly and with great facilities and a great location, it was definately one that we would be back to!

More information:- if you have a car, they'll provide you with information to find free parking nearby (in switzerland it's rare)- for just little bit more (32chf per personn) available cheap double rooms with balcony and lake view!- very calm even though it's located very close to centre and night activities (concerts, dancing)
