Good location for visiting snowdon, castles and angelsey. Bangor a little dull but if you have a car no problem. Staff very helpful, food good, lounge and games room good for kids and clean bathrooms and big catering kitchen. Would visit again.

good place to stay if you are exploring snowdonia, not too much to see in bangor itself. very easy walk to bus station (under 10 mins) that will take you to the mountain district or around the coast. the hostel itself is very standard, pretty good bathrooms and big kitchen, also a really comfortable tv and reading room. very much a "family and older persons" atmosphere, but that is probably to do with the actual area of wales itself. does the job and you would probably meet some interesting people there. note that reception is only open to check in until about 10.30pm so i wouldn't arrive too late, though once you're checked in there is keypad access all night. its good if all the accomodation in snowdonia is booked out, as was the case when i visited - its only 40 minutes or so on the bus to llanberis etc.

Bangor YHA is just off the main road that the bus drops you off on. The staff was friendly, the scenery is excellent (you have to walk up a 100 yard path through the forest to get there), there is a keypad so you can get in any time of night. In general, Bangor isn't the best place to visit if you want to see what Wales has to offer, but it is a good place to stop for the night to launch to the Isle of Anglesey or Snodonia.
