BUG review
This classy hostel has an excellent location inside the medieval town walls. There’s a cosy lounge with a small TV and lots of books and downstairs there’s a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and a lovely dining area with games and music. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated.

I wold like to thank Bob and his wife ( the owners of the hostel) for everything. A pleasant place where to stay, honestly speaking, they have offered me all the help I needed. You will find a pretty friendly and calm atmosphere there. It is worth to choose this place as accomodation, really.

Ok this is a great hostel, more like a friendly houseshare, except much tidier and really well decorated. But while Henri was super nice and friendly, Bob seemed a bit burnt out as a hostel owner and not terribly helpful... But apart from that it is a lovely place.

Like staying in a large and friendly house. All travellers, all nations, wonderful 14th century-but-modernised kitchen, complete with guard dog(friendly to guests terrier)almost on mediaeval walls of Caernarfon, around the corner from Anglesey pub on river front, walking distance from other great pubs, shops, coffee shops etc. And the locals are hospitable and teach you(polite)welsh.Come here all ye who are stressed out, and this place will repair you. NO, I never met Bob and Henri who run it previously, but they feel like friends immediately.

Totters is centrally located, clean and well maintained. The beds are comfy and the lounge has a tv and loads of books. I have stayed twice in winter and it is warm and invitingv with loads of tea, toast and weetabix for breakfast. Best Hostel I have ever used in any country.

I stayed here with a 'Stray' group in December 2003. The lounge feels more like a home, complete with dog next to you on the couch. Totters is friendly and relaxed. It was amazing staying in a hostel within the castle walls. I recommend dinner and drinks at The Black Bouy Inn, a small pub that's a couple of hundred years old.

Caernarfon is a friendly, quaint small town and this hostel fits right in. It is ideally located, 2 minutes from the castle (the main attraction) and just inside one of the city wall's gates. Room was very clean with only 6 beds, so no overcrowding, and it had a touch of charm, which isn't common for hostels. Continental breakfast was available at all times, so yes, you can sleep in. Showers were huge and no trouble adjusting the temperature. Oh yeah, and Lucia (the Jack Russell) is a terrific guard of that front door. Bob and Henry are brilliant hosts!

Totters is amazing in every way, i went there with stray in June 2003, you have a 13th century castle 100 meters behind the hostel, which itself is located within the walls of the city. Take a left hand turn out the front door, walk 10 meters and you are going through one of the two original gates to the city, the Golden Gate, which at sunset has the sun reflecting off the water through the gate, hence the name. you go left out the gate and 50 meters away you have an amazing pub full of friendly locals and opposite a floating resturaunt. You sit on the wall next to the Menai Straight having a pint, life's tough on the wall with a beer....you can catch a local bus to Snowdonia National Park to go hiking, or if your heading to Ireland, Holyhead is not to far away by bus and train. Great place to go to on the way over to Ireland. Then the hostel itself is top quality. Clean, friendly, safe and very homely. breakfast is provided, with great cooking facilities also. You really can not go wrong.Bob and Henri who own it are the perfect hosts, full of all sorts of info, there friendly and overall very helpfull.

I'm writing this cause i used this site to find places to stay - Totters is great. Stayed 2 nights here in a 6 female dorm over may bank hols and it was great. As the other review mentioned, within town walls - castle a few minutes away and the main bus area the same (stand across from Argos). Clean, secure and brekkie was great. Owner will give u advise if u want it - loads of brochures about where to go etc. What else can i say? Lively nightlife and a fun place to hang out. Enjoy

In addition to being one of the cheapest hostels you will probably find in the UK, it offers a lot for the money. Linens and breakfast are included, and the cereal and toast, in addition to other backpackers' leftover food, is available 24/7. The hostel is located within the medieval city walls, about a block from the outstanding castle. From the doorstep you can look out an archway in the wall and see the most beautiful sunsets over the water. The guy who runs the place might talk your ear off, but he can provide you with lots of good information about the area in the process. His best tip to me was to take a flashlight aka torch to the castle so that you can see in all the nooks and crannies. I will now do that whenever I go to ruins. He can also hook you up with walking tours. The only downside is that the walls are paper thin, so if you are there on a night with a loud crowd, you will definitely want earplugs.
