About BUG's hostel reviews
This hostel was visited by one of BUG's team of hostel inspectors who write independent reviews and assess a star rating based on an objective assessment criteria.

We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.

Kings Youth Hostel is about a mile up a secluded wooded valley from the main road from Dolgellau to the east. It offers a good starting point for walks in the local countryside. Probably most people who stay there (as my group did in August 2005) do so with one common main objective: to climb Cader Idris (2927 feet) - about a three hour walk from the hostel to the summit, a popular walk. Pleasant walkers-type atmosphere, comfortable lounge, good dormitory accommodation and self catering kitchen plus friendly and helpful staff.
