BUG review
Hamilton Backpackers Lodge has extremely knowledgeable staff with lots of local knowledge. The building’s character and comfortable accommodation with a quiet garden area and good, homely facilities make this hostel a superb place to stay. It is in the centre of Fishguard close to good local pubs and shops.

The Hamilton Backpacker Lodge in Fishguard was an incredibly friendly and welcoming place to stay. Steve the owner made us feel right at home, and was more than hospitable offering us tea and coffee after a long day of travelling! Laying in a hammock in the beautiful relaxing garden is more than a backpacker could ask for! I will defintately be going back!

Hamilton Backpackers has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Having stayed there 6 times since 1996, I wouldn't consider anywhere else in the area. It's a perfect stop off (to or from Ireland) and if you're on the late ferry, you know you can still get in. It's got all the ammenities you'd expect, including internet access, washer and dryer, kitchen facilities, tea and coffee. I highly recommend it.

Having stayed at another private run hostel in Wales we were expecting great things but were very disappointed. Furniture was all very old (I think our double matress was ready to walk out on its own!) and the kitchen was poorly equipped and greasy. Everything was dark and cramped (the low ceilings don't help) and while the owner seemed friendly, you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of him. No real security - front door left open all day and Fishguard is not the nicest place! Don't go here if your experience of hostelling is based on the UK YHA standard.
