This was quite the strangest hostel i stayed in during my 4 weeks travelling in the States.

The place itself is pretty grotty and outdated (they dont show pictures of the rooms on the website just a picture of the mural on the wall outside which is the only impressive thing about the place), and not great on the cleanliness front. The boys found bedbugs in their room and the girls' room wasn't overly clean.

The weirdest thing though was the staff. Not the friendliest of people to say the least. Whilst we were there a couple representing Lonely Planet turned up to review it. The manager was pretty rude in her dealings with them, particularly when they asked to see the room before booking and when they revealed who they were they literally chased them out of the door! Very strange behaviour given that Lonely Planet is one of the best places to attract travellers.

There was also the requirement to do chores which is a complete pain.

If there was an alternative hostel in the area i would say stay there, as there's not either skip straight through or book the local motel. It's worth it!
