This is one of the cheaper resorts - we paid NZ$110 per night for a double bure - there was a fan once we asked for it but electricity is turned off at 10pm and boy was it hot!

The island is picturesque and the sea fantastic, you can walk to the rocky part of the beach and get great snorkelling, there are some tiny fish/bugs in the sea at Nabua that give you a nasty nip - 3 of the guests got bitten while I was there (including me) nothing worse than an ouch factor but worth knowing about especially if you have kids - my 6yr old grandson didn't get bitten.

A nightly talk included: "If our staff are not as polite as they might be or you don't like the food, please keep this to yourself"

There are 3 resorts right next to each other separated by nothing, they blend into one another. Nabua was half full when we got there, the resort next door had 2 people, the last resort was empty - some conflict with the owners. So it is not an overcrowded place despite the low budget. Definitly worth going to Blue Lagoon for decent food. One our last day lunch was pasta - spagetti cooked in garlic and some dry bread. The food is interesting to say the most - take your own back up food and water. Dinner was a plate which tasted like a mix of pot noodles (not fully cooked), rice, potatoes, cucumber, melon, chicken.

Flies are a problem as are mosquitoes and the mosquito nets are full of holes. They do have an organge tree and a small sprig stuck by the light fitting did kill off all flies that went near it - quite amazing!

Nope - would not recommend it. Pay that bit more and go to a more organised, more friendly place. You would save on the boat fare too.

I stayed at Nabua lodge for 4 nights in February 2005 and I can honestly say that everything about it was great! The buras are very simple but when you go to sleep looking at the star and hearing the sea out the windows and you really don't care what you're sleeping on!! The staff are all great, although watch out for Wise and some of the guys who like to cheat at cards!! The beach is great, altho at low tide it is hard to swim because of all the coral. I would definately recommend walking across the island to Oarsmans bay, the most beautiful beach ever!! The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular (well worth getting up for!!). Also, if you're there on a sunday, make sure you get them to take you into the village to go to the church and then to a locals bura for some food. It was the best day of my entire 9 months away from the UK! The evenings are great fun, just chilling and doing the Bula dance! Oh yeah, the food is great too. There really is nothing bad to say about this place. Iwant to return!!
