We as backpackers always want a cheap place, but at what price! I've been attracted by the lonely planet saying it was on the water, but really every place on this island is on the water... I need to say I had the worst experience myself in this place of all my 1 year trip around the world, and mainly because that Josine Mason the owner is totally Crazy! It is NOT a safe place to be, for your sutff (the place is totally opened with no lockers, I got my ipod stolen during the night) and for your own security!The place is still really expensive for a dump place (at my time about 55 $US), and you will really feel unwelcomed pretty fast. All the few people that we're there all agreed that she is crazy! She is about 80 years old and not ok in her head! One night she decided that a guy wasn't welcome anymore and she told him his bed was booked for the next day. The guy politly told her she made a mistake and the she freaked out, came back with a knife and called her kids to protect her against the guy! Really that was enough for the rest of the people to just get out of there the following day.When we told the other place about the story they told us there were many stories like that and she even already attacked people and have been charged for attacking tourists and everybody on the island is kind of disconnected from her family. Well what else can I say then KEEP AWAY from there! This website has been usefull for me in my trip for reviews of places to go and no to go so just wanted to help others from my experieces.
