I stayed at this hostel for three nights and had one of the coolest experiences ever. I was traveling with one of my friends and we arrived around 10 check in was easy and relatively friendly, went to my room and immediately met all my room mates who were just chillin on the balcony one offers me a beer and we end up making plans to go surfing the next day. Something to realize about this hostel is that a lot of people are using to transition to living there and are all mangy surf bums but they are generally all friendly and generous. If you can appreciate the beauty of nights waking up on the beach at five and stumbling back to your bed this is a great place for you otherwise the Marriott is probably better choice (they do have a very nice pool with no security guard).

I arrived in Honolulu late at night on an international flight. I arrived at the hostel and immediately felt unsafe, after dark the location is very dodgy. I had to walk through an all male dorm room to get to my room (I'm female) only to unlock and open the door on a naked man sleeping in my bed! I asked for a new room or at least some new sheets but they were all booked out apparently. To make matters worse the man had peed on the wooden floor in several spots as well as in the garbage bin! Apparently this couldn't be cleaned until the morning! I desperately wanted a shower but the bathroom made me want to vomit. I waited in the room (couldn't sleep) until morning when I discovered the same guy sitting on the toilet (still naked) reading a book with the bathroom door wide open! Time came to check out and....... To my shock, the new person at reception was the naked man (now fully clothed), he was an employee!!!!!!! Worst experience EVER!!!!

This is a dirty hostel. Our room was a box with a soiled bed, a broken fan and a small window. The common room was full of ants and I got an infection in my arm from lying on the couch. Tried to leave 2 days after we checked in but everywhere else was full. Staff were not very friendly. The ONLY good thing about this dump was the location. Its right beside everything. Pay the extra cash and stay in a hotel.
