Afraid of getting a contagious disease. Horrible. Horrible. Don't stay without penicillin., June 15, 2008
Reviewer: chavalah from Virginia Beach, VA

Pros: You could leave.
Cons: Everything but the cool people that checked you in and stole your money.

When you check in you find a cool little reception area where the people are very nice. Then they take your money as you look up to see the "No refund after check in" sign. Then you LUG (now I know why it's called LUGgage) up three flights of stairs to find completely nauseous facilities. When you go back to the office for a refund they say "only if we can re-rent that room". I chose to take the loss instead of taking the penicillin or the epinephrine needed to get through the first night with the wasps. No amount of money was worth staying there. It is far cleanlier to just use a tent on the beach.

We decided to splurge for the private room since we thought it was only a few dollars more than the dorm beds - it ended up costing 7 dollars more per day than I thought - which is a lot to a traveler - For a few mroe dollars we could have stayed in a low end hotle. I have stayed at many hostels world wide and this was one of the worst - Dont get me wrong the staff and other travelers were great but the place was a fire trap - I was literally nervous to stay there - the bathroom was disgusting - it would have been okay if i hadnt paid so much - also if you choose to say here ALWAYS lock your door - i had money stolen from my room while i was in the house - i will look for a new place next time - the north shore is worth the repeat trip

This is the worst place I have ever stayed in my life. They took the money on my Debit Card, before we even arrived, and the Guy on Reception, was extemely rude and condescending, telling us that this was all we deserved. The place was cold, rickety, and totally lacking in any creature comforts, and/or atmosphere, unless you count a cold and unfriendly one. I would add that the place was undoubtedly a firetrap, and in danger of imminent collapse. I strongly advise anybody thinking of staying at this place, not to do so, under any circumstances. They would be better off, staying a shorter time, at a more reputable place. There is no way this place is worth, what they charge, or indeed, any money at all.
