This hostel wasn't too bad I guess, it just wasn't great either. I stayed for one night before escaping to Northland, and on my way back home I stopped again in Auckland and stayed at Base, and had a blast.The good bits, a great deck and a nice and comfy lounge.
The bad bits, cramped bedrooms and ewwky bathrooms.

What a depressing city Auckland is. You won't want to stay there very long, so you might as well stay here. It's got all the facilities you would expect and is remarkably quiet considering its city location. There's not much atmosphere because no-one stays there long. Why would you in such a depressing place as Auckland when the rest of New Zealand is so awesome?
