BUG Review
Treks is a purpose-built hostel that offers a very high standard of accommodation. The exterior is a reddish-brown corrugated metal, and the interior common spaces are airy, open and very clean. A big spacious lounge features nice leather couches and beanbags. There’s a large kitchen and cafeteria-like dining area, as well as an outdoor deck with a barbecue. Rooms feature clean, made-up single beds – no bunks. Treks is right across the street from Kuirai Park, full of free-to-visit geothermal pools. Heaps of off-street parking is available in a separate lot. Treks is not dripping with atmosphere, but it’s about as crisp and clean of a hostel as you’ll find in Rotorua.

We stayed here dec 06. It is a large new building so is still very clean and modern. You can walk from it to all the main areas of Rotorua. Would recomend the Pig and Whistle pub near by, great food and beer. We stayed in a double on-suite room. On the slight down side parking on site was limited and the rooms were very basic but overall a nice place to stay.

This hostel was outstanding. Brand new, most comfotable bed ever, the bedrooms are in a seperate building from the TV room and kitchen etc - genius!

It was quite quiet though and seemed to attract the older traveller. It's very new though I couldn't find it in any books or guides - I just happened to drive past it, and it almost took my breath away, looks more like a hotel than a backpackers! I felt spoilt! (Especially after staying at Crash Palace the previous night)

Stay here! It's awesome! In my top 5 hostels I've stayed in around the world.

A really nice place, with nice dorm rooms that don't use bunk beds. A huge kitchen, internet and tv lounge, which are all comfortable and clean, and really friendly and helpful staff. Internet access was a bit wonky, and not that cheap, but there are plenty of places nearby if you want cheaper.

Definitely recommended.

Awesome place! I nearly cried with happiness when I saw the beds. No bunk beds, hooray!!! Lovely, clean showers with a HAIRDRYER for the girls (not sure what the guys got though, ha ha).

Great movie collection, MASSIVE kitchen/dining area, even a little library as well.

The only bad experience was waking up to screaming kids from a nearby kindergarten or summat. So try to get a room FAR FAR away from that.

Other than that, this hostel is ROCKIN'!

Really impressed. At the end of downtown, but not far and makes it quieter as well. The guy at reception was great as was the normal girl, really friendly and helpful. Rooms a fair size, and no bunks so its all good. Vertilation not great and blind was kinds strange for a new hostel. Black out curtain would be much better. Sorted out my trips easily and were helpful with the advice on whats hot and whats not. Good TV lounge. Great kitchen. Lots of internet machines, although no messenger.
