BUG Review
This fairly new Whakatane hostel doesn’t exactly jibe with its regal-sounding name. It’s a very clean place but there isn’t much in the way of atmosphere. It’s set around a concrete courtyard; inside the rooms are very tidy, if on the small side. The bathrooms are meticulous. There’s a breeze-block games/TV room with a pool table and a signature wall for backpackers that looked pretty bare when we visited. Outdoor seating and a barbecue are available in the courtyard, but it has a kind of car-park ambience. Still, it is very clean.
