i stayed at base for a few nights and had a really enjoyable stay, the staff were really helpful and the travel desk helped me with my 3 weeks of getting around NZ as i had no idea what i was going to do or where to head, all i knew i was flying out of auckland!
i couldnt get a more centrally located hostel than base and it was pretty clean to, there always seemed to be somebody walking around cleaning!
had a few headaches in the mornings thanks to the bar, would defo recommend staying at base to anyone

I wasn't impressed with this, or with the other Base hostel in New Zealand I stayed in. Dorm too crowded. Bathroom not particularly clean. Kitchen too small and messy. Overall vibe not too good. But, the location's not bad and the Indian Restaurant on the ground floor (independent from the hostel) is excellent.
