BUG Review
Christchurch City Central YHA is a great, centrally located hostel. It is bright, cheerful and spacious. There are two clean fully-equipped kitchens, a games room, TV lounge, and two internet points ($6 per hour including Wi-Fi). The common area has a pool table, table football and a couple of new massage chairs. Dorms are basic, but tiered bunks make them feel spacious. The bathrooms are very clean, although the water pressure in the showers isn’t great. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, but convivial. They offer free pick up service and a tour desk.

My bf and I stayed here 2 nights in a double room. (the room was standard...a bed in a room) The kitchen was great, big and clean. The bathrooms/showers were also spacious and clean. Staff where pretty helpful but not overly friendly, however it is a big hostel and so doesn't feel very personal. The common room down stairs has a pool table and there was a book made up where other backpackers wrote their 2cents on common tours, bus/transportation options, etc which was a good idea. The hostel is also fairly close to the centre of Chirstchurch. Over all a nice clean hostel.

This is a good modern YHA. the facilities are fairly new and clean, the staff are friendly and you will have an excellent nights' sleep.

However the sheer size of the place and the lack of any focal communal area mean that it's fairly dull and not the easiest place to make friends.

So it all depends what you're looking for!
