Adelphi Lodge is an older building that could be a little better maintained, however it has an unbeatable location and the security is good for a small town hostel. They provide free vegetable soup every evening.

The staff at the Adelphi were absolutely fantastic - very friendly and always there to help. The room was exceptionally tidy. They even were giving away free soup at 6pm each night! Now that's kiwi hospitality for you!You couldn’t get a better location to town that the Adelphi. We had a selection of cafes/restaurants and the beach within 3 mins walk!
I only stayed there one night. The kitchen is OK and so was the dorm I stayed in, but I saw another 6-bed dorm which needed some paint and could have been better maintained.The deco is a bit special. You need to get used to it.
