River Valley Lodge is a destination in itself. Thirty minutes outside Taihape, it’s all about outdoor recreation
and adventure here – white water rafting, horse trekking, golf, kayaking, fly fishing… the list of activities goes
on and on. The lodge is in an absolutely gorgeous valley right on the Rangitikei River. A sauna and spa pool is
available, and you can shell out for serious spa massage treatments as well. The backpacker accommodation is
nothing special, and the kitchen is positively miniscule, but there is a bar/café on site, and a grand common area
with a great log fire in the middle. But then, you’ll most likely spend most of your time outdoors anyway.
