BUG Review
Holly’s is a small, homely hostel with fairly basic facilities. The kitchen is a bit rough, but it has a dishwasher. Dorms are tired-looking, but they have thick mattresses and are made-up with duvets. The bathrooms are quite nice and clean, and there is a common room with TV, lots of videos, internet access and a sundeck with an lovely view. The carpets are old and stained throughout, giving the place a dirty and drab appearance. It has a nice, quiet ambience.

The TV (& extensive videos) - is the main "attraction" here, April 6, 2006

Was kept awake till 3am by guests watching videos with the volume up really high. The owners don't live on the property and said, after I complained, that everyone should be quiet after 11pm BUT this is useless with a group of 5 or 6 party animals determined to have"fun" even when asked by others to turn a TV down. This was the second night of such noise from the same group.

The largest room in this hostel is the TV room, the dining area is tiny. People were lining up their next video to watch when I was there in February - a pretty dull group of "travellers".

The hostel has NO atmosphere; just lots of noise from the TV.

We stayed at Hollys for nearly 2 weeks, and thought it was the best hostel we stayed in, in Wanaka. Friendly staff and a very homely feel. We felt relaxed here. Rooms good too. Recommended.

I stayed in a twin room with my daughter. My son in a drom. It was always kept warm,(heavy frosts during our stay) and Hank, Adele & Zoe(the bitch) very friendly. Place was full of skiers & boarders like ourselves. Our ski gear, dried great over the room heater but the dorm got a bit hot at times drying gear. Has good cloth washer & dryer though. Could do with a ski drying room.
