BUG Review
This is the newest member of the Base empire and it fits in quite nicely. Everything is clean and new and done up in the Base red-and-black colour scheme, with many of the nicer touches that Base brings to its hostels – lockers for every bed, good mattresses and bedding, individual reading lights and key-card security. There is a girls-only Sanctuary wing as well, which features fluffy towels and girly bath products. The kitchen is big and well-equipped. The literature brags about the attached sun deck, however, which is nothing special. Like many Base hostels, this is a definite place to party, with a huge and lively bar/nightclub, Element, attached. It’s within walking distance to pretty much all of Taupo’s other nightlife options.
