BUG Review
This small hostel in Mount Victoria is messy and cluttered with Beethoven memorabilia scattered around the hostel. Some travellers find that the mess adds to the character but most backpackers prefer to stay somewhere a bit cleaner. Common areas include a small kitchen and some outdoor sitting areas.

Price
Dorm bed $24 ($21 BBH)
Double/twin room $58 ($52 BBH)

Prices are in New Zealand dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.

Off-street parking Kitchen Not all dormitories can be locked

This is a very scary place to go to. Don't even try to go there. And yes, they were right: You should be mad to live there. I think the host is on drugs or drunk all day long. There is no lock, he enters the room anytime he wishes to; he is rude, disrespectful and the price is not 19 dollars as listed, but 20 dollars; there is no breakfast. I am glad I just visited and not stayed there. It is just disgusting and those saying that it is a great place with lots of character, live like pigs at home. And they make you wake up at a specific time of the day. This is just ridiculous. Shame on them and on Wellington City Council for allowing them to do business. It is as disgusting and dirty as Rowena's House. Cristina

great place, lots of fun. the base and yha croud wont be into it, but if you want a free breakie and a real nz backpacking experience, bh is the place to go. theres lots of long termers, travellers working in wellington so its quiet during the week, but ob the weekend there's bound to be somebody to join you for a drink or two.

hmmmm.Well the sign by the door says " u have to be mad to stay here" and they may well be right. It's like a hostel shrine to Beethoven. It isnt that clean and there is only one small t.v that works. There are no curtains on the windows and no locks on the bedroom doors.Full of quite a few 'interesting characters' (long termers) it's good fun.

On the plus side - the manager Simon is a real star. Was really helpful and stayin here is more like a house share with mates.O.K if u like ur luxuries, party atmosphere n cleanliness, not the place for u BUT if u wanna meet people n have an 'experience' then it is good fun.Me n my girlfriend stayed for 3 nights. The place itself is old but the beds are comfy and as i say it's the one hostel we felt most welcome in during our whole stay in New Zealand largley due to Simon.Go take a look. It's worth it if not a wee bit 'quirky'!!

this hostel is ok, nothing wrong with it. Rooms were clean and well maintained. So were the bathrooms. The breakfast was yummy, but the fact, that everybody had to get up at a certain time (so no sleeping till lunchtime) was a little bit weird.
